EINSTEINIUM FOUNDATION UPDATE (APRIL 2021)

To the Einsteinium community,

Weeee cash, our social payments platform

Recently, we experienced an issue with the mail service for the Weeee Cash (http://weeee.io) mobile app. This impacted operations for the app and limited the ability to login for some users. After a short period of scheduled maintenance we are happy to announce that the issue has been resolved and all Weeee Cash functionalities are back to normal. We apologize for any inconvenience that some users may have experienced and we are continuing to monitor the situation. If you encounter any issues in the future please reach us via our social channels or the main website (https://www.emc2.foundation) contact form.

EMC2 Fellowships

In 2018, the Einsteinium Foundation, a non-profit organization (NPO) and the world's first NPO to be backed by cryptocurrency, established our annual award program. We did this in order to offer grant money to directly support scientific research.

We continue to balance our operations as a cryptocurrency and philanthropic organization. Therefore, on the anniversary of Einstein’s birthday, we announced that the Einsteinium Foundation will support the Einsteinium Fellowships, with details of this initiative described in our recent blog post. This marks a very special occasion for the Einsteinium Foundation as our organization's founding was inspired by Albert Einstein. For this program, there are no restrictions on the type of projects that are eligible but they must be scientific in nature and well-thought out. Additionally, eligible projects must follow a general ethos to push human knowledge forward, and strive to build us a better, safer and more stable future. In this regard, the fellowships support researchers across career stages including graduate, postgraduate, or professorships by offering funds to be utilized for the advancement of a scientific project. This year, we will be offering the Einsteinium Fellowships in the form of 10 fellowships to be awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. Each fellow will be awarded 10,000 EMC2 in unrestricted funds. We encourage you to spread awareness of this initiative and if interested, to direct your application here.

We are looking to add to the team

Einsteinium Foundation is looking to add to our team. EINSTEINIUM FOUNDATION UPDATE (MARCH 2021)

To the Einsteinium community,

Einsteinium Fellowships

As we continue to balance our operations as a cryptocurrency and philanthropic organization. Bittrex Exchange

We recently experienced downtime on the Einsteinium wallet on Bittrex, a major cryptocurrency exchange where you can utilize EMC2. This impacted operations on the exchange and we were in constant contact with Bittrex technical support team in order to resolve these issues. After a short period of scheduled maintenance we are happy to announce that the EMC2 wallet is now active again on the Bittrex exchange. The new version (v13.07.01) of the Einsteinium wallet is available on our GitHub repository, containing changes that remove notarization transactions from some remote procedure calls (RPC) responses. This should make regular wallet maintenance and unspent transaction output (UTXO) consolidation easier in the future for services that are using our wallet.

MIL Development

MIL is under current development and represents an evolved blockchain, forked from EMC2, focused on increasing technological improvements and functionality. Over the past month, we have been running continuous development on the MIL mining software infrastructure. This is done to ensure that operations in regards to MIL mining and network scaling and stability are successful. We previously reported on a software issue on the mining side of operations for this project. We are happy to announce that within a local environment we were able to discover and correct this issue. Our next steps are to scale this solution up into the MIL-MainNet. It is our expectation that we can scale this current solution and continue to build the ecosystem of software to support the delivery of this innovative project. We will be releasing monthly updates and periodic developer notes as we progress.

Stop Asian hate

We have been witness to a sharp escalation in hate speech, hate crimes, and other forms of harassment against members of the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the United States. Hate speech, violence and discrimination come in many forms, from political leaders using racist language in referring to coronavirus, violence against Asian women and to the brutal and senseless attacks against Asians and members of the Asian American community in the Los Angeles, the Bay Area, New York, Atlanta, and elsewhere. The leadership of the Einsteinium Foundation stands united in support of the AAPI community and against xenophobia, racism, sexism, and hate. We are outraged and saddened. We extend our deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the victims.

Open call for applications -- Einsteinium Fellowship

To the Einsteinium Community,

As we continue to balance our operations as a cryptocurrency and philanthropic organization. Today, March 14th, 2021, on the anniversary of Einstein’s birthday we are proud to announce that the Einsteinium Foundation will support the Einsteinium Fellowships, with details of this initiative listed below. This is a very special occasion for the Einsteinium Foundation as our organization's founding was inspired by Albert Einstein.

“The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead and his eyes are dimmed.”

-- Albert Einstein, The World As I See It

Overview

In 2018, the Einsteinium Foundation, a non-profit organization (NPO) and the world's first NPO to be backed by cryptocurrency, established the annual Einsteinium Award. We did this in order to offer grant money to directly support scientific research. There are no restrictions on the type of projects that are eligible but they must be scientific in nature, and follow a general ethos to push human knowledge forward, and strive to build us a better, safer and more stable future. In this regard, the award supports researchers across career stages including graduate, postgraduate, or professorships by offering funds to be utilized for the advancement of a scientific project. This year, we will be offering the Einsteinium Fellowships in the form of 10 fellowships to be awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. Each fellow will be awarded 10,000 EMC2 in unrestricted funds.

Scientific research is a long-term investment in our future, and the future of our planet. The Einsteinium Foundation is proud to support this Open Call for Applications (OCA) for the Einsteinium Fellowships. By encouraging researchers through recognition, time, and support we hope that continued effort on difficult problems across the sciences will lead to significant progress. We are eager to see the many examples of Einsteinium Fellows championing success in their field. We are especially supportive of young scientists, women, and underrepresented minorities, people who are beginning their careers and those trying to open up new areas of scientific discovery.

Our annual awards attracted a global pool of applicants with equally diverse backgrounds. The previous classes have set an amazing example on what community-based and open science can be. We look forward to this year's applicant pool.

Application Process

The Einsteinium Foundation is interested in supporting a broad range of scientific work. We are looking for applicants from a University or Graduate studies program. We are seeking top-level research from Students, Postdocs, and Professors from all over the world. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

We will accept application through the Einsteinium Fellowship website: https://www.emc2.foundation/einsteinium-fellowship

  • Your contact information

  • Your institution affiliation

  • A way to reach you over the internet (Zoom/Skype/etc)

  • A link to your personal website or LinkedIn.

Eligibility

Members of the scientific community who are graduate students or postdocs may apply for an Einsteinium Fellowship. Only those with current 2021 membership in either the graduate student or postdoc, or faculty category are eligible to submit an application form. You do not need to be a current holder of Einsteinium (EMC2) in order to apply. However, we do encourage you to take part in the cryptocurrency community by visiting our website emc2.foundation and learning how to access Einsteinium with our wallet or on the exchanges we are listed on. Post-baccalaureates, lab technicians, or individuals who are searching for faculty positions but are no longer postdocs are not eligible. In addition, we will raise a separate pool of funds to support citizen science and community-driven projects. Therefore, at this time, individuals working in the area of citizen science or community driven work are not eligible.

Selection Criteria

In the first round, the Einsteinium Fellowship selection committee will consider the significance of the research. For example, research area, impact to the field, and applicant initiated (lead) science. We will also consider productivity based on publication record commensurate with seniority of the applicant. Other considerations include a demonstrated activity in service and leadership for postdoctoral or later applicants. In the second round the Einsteinium Fellow committee will consider feasibility and level of content in your application. Typically we look for continued work and expertise in an area of focus. However we make exceptions when the applicant can make a compelling case in a new area of inquiry. We will also consider the diversity of our application pool including gender / race / ethnicity and sexual orientation and geographic location / type of institution.

Important Dates

We plan to award all fellowships over the 2021 calendar year. Otherwise, all applications will be considered on a rolling basis. We encourage anyone interested to apply early!

Einsteinium Foundation update (February 2021)

To the Einsteinium community,

An update on the development of Milevium (MIL)

MIL is under current development and represents an evolved blockchain, forked from EMC2, focused on increased technological improvements and functionality. Last month, we reported on a software issue on the mining side of operations for this project. We are continuing to explore solutions to overcome this problem. We have begun the process of amending an open source mining wallet to assume corrections and deliver a resolution to this issue. It is our expectation that we can quickly resolve this issue and continue to build the ecosystem of software to support the delivery of this innovative project. We will be releasing monthly updates and periodic developer notes as we progress.

Expanding our listings on exchanges

We continue to look for new ways to increase the awareness for The Einsteinium Foundation and functionality of Einsteinium, our current product. Einsteinium, the coin, is available to trade on several top exchanges such as Upbit, Bittrex, and AtomicDex. We are excited by and fully support the recent community-driven activity to reach out to exchanges on our behalf. As a strong driving signal on the Foundation side and in order to reach a wider audience in the cryptocurrency community we are planning for additional exchange listings this year.

Science projects search

As we balance our continued operations as both a cryptocurrency and a philanthropic organization, we continue to look for, and actively support, innovative research. The Einsteinium Foundation continues to support scientific research through the use of our award program, which has been revamped to now be offered in the form of 5 smaller awards. As such, over the coming months we will focus on increasing awareness for Einsteinium in academic institutions and the healthcare industry. We constantly seek top-level research from Students, Postdocs, and Professors from all over the world. For those interested in more information for our award program and call for applications visit: https://www.emc2.foundation/einsteinium-awards

MIL Development update (January 2021)

To the Einsteinium community,

I am writing you to inform you about our recent progress.

Over the past month, we have been running continuous development on the MIL MainNet, the release of which we announced here. During our early testing period (test-net) we had resolved a long-standing bug in our wallet, which we describe here. During our new period (MainNet) we encountered (as can often be expected) a new error. This time on the miner side of operations, something which we would not be able to detect in our previous test-net. However, we are currently operating in order to quickly resolve and implement a strategy to move forward. We rely on our deep development experience.

We are also keeping an eye on the volatile cryptocurrency markets. We are pleased with Einsteinium’s price appreciation over the past year. This is a result of our continuing success and the support of our loyal community.

With Einsteinium’s long history, we are confident in our overall ability to drive results and for enduring support of scientific research.

A full description of the MIL project including technical specifications, genesis, and the rationale behind it can be found in the MIL Blue Paper.

As we grow, please stay tuned for additional announcements on this new ecosystem.

Cheers,
Leadership of the Einsteinium Foundation
